The State of San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe and the oldest republic in the world. San Marino is located on the slopes of Mount Titan. It has its Mint, its own stamps, a soccer team and an army. Do not miss the wonderful forts linked by three walkways below the citadel with a triple ring of walls. On the top lies the Fortress. This military sentinel has been enlarged around the 1600th c. and converted into a prison for famous prisoners like the illustrious Count of Cagliostro and Felice Orsini.
